Its Africa and everything can change - Saturday 20th

After a quiet night at AEE - and no rooster! - Cheryl, Sandra and I headed into Kigali city for shopping. Not souvenir shopping but resources for the Musanze training. We are expecting to train close to 200 people over 4 days.

We purchased
  • thread for sewing machines
  • needles and pins
  • elastic
  • sewing scissors
  • printer cartridge for our Laser printer (left here last year)
  • and organised printing of conference manuals - over 12k pages. He said come back on monday!
Cheryl and Sandra had also purchased yesterday
  • 3 electric sewing machines
  • 7 treadle sewing machines

We still need to purchase material.
The sewing machines and resources are to be left with the unmarried mothers in Musanze. We are also hiring 3-4 locals to train them in how to sew. We had thought of training them ourselves but the team is too small and the locals will do a better job!

After sweating up and down hills with out purchases we collapsed into Simba cafe for a late lunch.
Thought we should check how our printing man was going is case he had some issues. Our printing requirements are complex with about 30 different handouts. Some single sided, some double side. The largest is about 71 pages.
All the printing was going fine. In fact he may finish today as he was using all his machines for us.

After returning to AEE Cheryl received and email explaining that our 4 days of training in Musanze is now changing to 2.5 days. Same number of people, same amount of training. Oh well, it may change again yet.

Helen, Louise, Nathan and Sophie should be arriving in Johannesburg as I post this.

Steve
